In a Blues Rock Review exclusive premiere, stream “A Thing For You” by J Isaiah Evans & The Boss Tweed. The song is from the upcoming album, Americana Radio, available on July 11.

“In a way, I started writing ‘A Thing for You’ in 5th grade. There was a girl in my class that was my 10-year old heart’s desire. That was the first time it bit me…the desperate longing for that one-and-only you’d give anything to be with. But then there’s that crippling terror of rejection keeping it all inside. I think everyone knows that want and that fear,” said J. Isaiah Evans.

Dallas native J. Isaiah Evans is best known as the founder and frontman of the roots rock and roll band, The 40 Acre Mule. Following the critical and commercial acclaim of their 2019 album Goodnight & Good Luck, the band hit the road for an extensive tour. Renowned for their loud, high-energy performances, The 40 Acre Mule built a passionate global fan base. But Evans was ready to explore a new direction.

J. Isaiah Evans & The Boss Tweed is a fresh project inspired by his love of organ-driven groups like Booker T. & the M.G.’s and the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio. With this new venture, Evans shifts the spotlight to keys, blending them into the heart of Americana rock to create a gritty, groove-heavy style he calls “Garageicana Rock-N-Roll.”

“This is a chance to experiment with new sounds on old favorites and collaborate with musicians I’ve always admired,” says Evans. “I want to fuse Americana, blues, soul, and garage rock into something distinct. I’m excited for people to experience this new project.”
