Blues-rock sensation Joanne Shaw Taylor has just released her new single, “I Gotta Stop Letting You Let Me Down,” and it’s just a track filled with raw emotion and blistering energy. Available for streaming on all major platforms now, this powerful track represents frustration and resolution over finally ending a relationship based upon promises that were repeatedly made but never kept.

A Blues Anthem of Self-Empowerment

With its sizzling slide guitar intro and driving riff, “I Gotta Stop Letting You Let Me Down” finds Joanne marrying her fiery guitar work with soulful vocals. Heartfelt lyrics, such as the pained “Babe, I gotta stop letting you let me down,” make for a rallying cry of self-worth and empowerment.

“I Gotta Stop Letting You Let Me Down” is about an on-again, off-again relationship with a person who has become a repeated broken promise, one you can’t help but revisit,” Joanne says. “It’s a song about somebody whose lack of self-worth controls all of their decisions and you have to make the choice to stop allowing them to disappoint you.”

The track stands in testament to the prowess of Joanne both as a guitarist and songwriter. Graced by Audley Freed on rhythm guitar, Doug Lancio on slide guitar, and Kevin Shirley at the production console, the raw emotion and gritty rock energy make it a standout addition to Joanne’s discography.

Building on Recent Success

“I Gotta Stop Letting You Let Me Down” follows Joanne’s most recent single, “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now,” a deeply personal exploration of grief and healing. Previous hits like “All The Things I Said” and her celebrated cover of “Black & Gold” showed Joanne’s versatility and depth as she continued to navigate complex emotional landscapes while staying true to her blues-rock roots.

These releases went on to seal Joanne’s position as one of the most important voices in contemporary blues-rock, earning critical acclaim from industry giants such as Stevie Wonder and Annie Lennox. What really sets her apart, though, is how she melds emotional resonance with masterful musicianship.

On the Horizon: Live Performances

Later, Joanne will appear on Keeping The Blues Alive at Sea X from March 21-26, 2025, a one-of-a-kind experience that brings together blues enthusiasts and legendary performers for the ultimate cruise experience. Then she will embark on her much-anticipated 2025 U.S. Spring Tour, in which fans will be able to witness firsthand her overwhelming stage presence and outstanding artistry.

Joanne Shaw Taylor delivers musically as usual in just one song: continue pushing the boundaries of her art with this new single in a way that creates dimension with the message and music here. “I Gotta Stop Letting You Let Me Down” is, or certainly ought to be, one in which you will not want to bypass if raw emotion from the blues/rock realm touches you a single ounce.
